Klueh and Hardy shine in Mission Viejo - Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions 2011
FAST’s swimmer, Michael Klueh, clinched the Men’s 800m freestyle crown after completing his swim in a triumphant time of 7 minutes and 56.59 seconds, at the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions 2011. The meet was held at Mission Viejo, in California,
on June 26, 2011.
Mission Viejo’s swimmer, Chad La Tourette, secured the second spot in the Men’s 800m freestyle relay final with a time of 7 minutes and 58.63 seconds. Andrew Gemmell of Delaware touched the finishing wall for the bronze title in a time of 8 minutes and 07.56
seconds.
After nabbing the golden crown in the 800m freestyle, Klueh was pleased with his overall performance in the meet. Klueh jumped to 12th
spot in the world rankings, while Chad La Tourette moved into the 18th place in the current standings.
Michael Klueh snared the gold medal in the Men’s 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relay finals at the 2007 Summer Universiade event in Bangkok. Currently, Klueh is preparing hard for the upcoming Olympic Games in London, 2012.
Jessica Hardy of Trojan took home the Women’s 100m butterfly title with a sterling time of 59.32 seconds. Trojan’s swimmer, Lyndsay De Paul, grabbed the silver title in the respective race with a winning time of 59.38 seconds, whereas, Whitney Myers of FAST
touched the finishing wall to capture the bronze medal in a time of 59.99 seconds.
In another meet, Mission Viejo’s Chloe Sutton and Minnetonka’s David Plummer nabbed the Women’s 1500m freestyle relay and Men’s 100m back-stroke meet finals of the event, respectively. Sutton edged out FAST’s Kate Ziegler in the respective race with a triumphant
time of 16 minutes and 12.73 seconds. Tyler Clary stood third with a time of 16 minutes and 54.19 seconds.
In the upcoming events, it is expected that Yuliya Efimova of Trojan will compete with Jillian Tyler of Minnesota and Kayla Voytechek in the Women’s 100m breast-stroke category, while Kosuke Kitajima of Trojan will face Ed Moses of Rose and Andrew Bree in
the Men’s 100m breast-stroke meets.
