Klusener says no to Bangladesh bowling coach role
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lance-Klusener-c72175 will not take over the role of the bowling coach of the Bangladeshi cricket team. Klusener had been in talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board for some time now, but refused to take up the role after he failed to convince his wife to shift to Bangladesh till his contract ended.
Earlier, Sri Lanka's Champaka Ramanayake, was the bowling coach of the Bangladeshi side, but a prolonged illness meant that he had severed his contract with the BCB.
According to the cricket board, they had tried to accommodate almost all of Klusener’s demands. He had been granted some extra facilities, and was allowed a holiday in his contract after the series against the Kiwis and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, before the start of the World Cup in 2011. What seems to have tipped the scales against the offer was Klusener demand that he be appointed on a tour by tour basis.
This compounds the problems for Bangladesh. They lost Ramanayake at such a crucial stage, with only six months to go for the World Cup 2011. This brought Klusener into the picture – who has a level-three coaching degree – as a potential replacement for Ramanayake. However, with the refusal from Klusener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 is left without too many options.
Former English pace bowler, Andy Caddick was also in the fray but with a business interest back home, he was not considered. Similarly, Venkatesh Prasad was approached but there is a good chance that he could be invited by the Asian Cricket Council as a development coach. Colin Croft of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 had shown genuine interest, but without any experience under his belt, Bangladesh turned him down.
Klusener is a former South African all-rounder, who had started his career as a pace bowler. In his very first Test match against India, he had scalped eight wickets, but with age, his pace had deteriorated. However, he went on to become one of the better ODI batsmen, with his ability to smash the ball around down the order. Not only was his strike-rate good, but he also had an average of more than 40 in ODIs, brought about by many unbeaten innings.
The BCB has already contracted Englishman Julien Fountain as the fielding coach for the side. They are being coached by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
