Knack ROESELARE defeats G.C. LAMIA in quarter-final of 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup
The 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup recently saw a match take place between Knack ROESELARE of Belgium as well as G.C. LAMIA of Greece.
The match between the two sides took place in the Belgian city of Roeselare and marked the quarter-final match of the championship.
It did not take long for Knack to secure themselves a win as they were able to make a clean sweep over their opponents. Not only did they win the match in three back-to-back sets, the Belgians were able to smother the LAMIA in the initial two frames. It
was only in the third set that LAMIA showed signs of life and were able to challenge the Belgians. However, the LAMIA effort came to no good as the Knack won the match at the following final set scores: 25-19, 25-14 and 29-27.
The coach of the home team, Dominique Baeyens, shared his views in the following manner after his team had won the match, “We are very happy with the result but we still have to win the return game in Greece to avoid the golden set. We will have to serve
well as we did tonight and if we succeed in doing this, I see good chances for my time to advance to the Challenge Round.”
The first set of the match saw the Knack take dominance at the courts with a lead of 5-2. Once they had the lead, the Knack was able to extend their advantage until 16-8 with the LAMIA making half-hearted efforts to stop the progress of their opponents.
Therefore, it was only a matter of time before the Knack was able to secure the first set of the game at 25-19.
The second set started on the same note as the opening frame with the home team taking the lead at 8-5 and keeping it with themselves until 16-8. The LAMIA could do nothing but watch the Knack take another set at 25-14.
The third set of the match saw both the teams lock horns together in a competitive manner but it was the home squad that sealed the deal at 29-27.
