Knee Surgery rules out Jacob Oram from T20 Champions League
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 all-rounder Jacob Oram’s injury plagued career got yet another painful chapter added to it when he was ruled out of the upcoming T20 Champions League as a result of a knee surgery due next week. MRI scans have shown damage to his patella tendon that needs a surgery.
All this would keep the all-rounder away from the grounds for next few months. Oram however, is hopeful for a comeback in December to welcome cricket nomads, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
Jacob’s tough year started with a torn Patella during the ODI series against the World Champions, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391. The injury earlier, ruled him out of Indian Premier League and as a result Oram had to forfeit his IPL fee. He made his comeback during the 2010 T20 World Championship in the Caribbean but continued to feel pain. The problem was aggravated once again during a practice camp in Australia last month. New Zealand’s Team management is hopeful that he would be able to get through the tri-nation series featuring India and Sri Lanka as well alongside New Zealand but he could bowl in only two league games before the last flare-up.
His knee injury would also be a blow to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. Every possible treatment was given to Oram there but in the end it was decided that it would be better to send him home for a medical opinion.
"No doubt they've done everything possible to improve the situation but they found out that they'd better get him back here for a medical opinion and some rehabilitation, thinking long-term towards the World Cup in February and March," said Alan. The 32 years old showed his grievances over not making for the forthcoming Champions League but at the same time he was happy that the problem has been diagnosed by the medical specialist.
"While I'm gutted to miss the Champions League with the Stags still I'm thankful to the medical specialist who has found the problem so that we can get the right plans in place to get it right," said the all-rounder. Oram has been told by the physicians that he would not be able to play international cricket before December but Oram is still focusing on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 tour in November, “who knows, if surgery and rehab goes well I may be available for selection before the Indian tour," said Oram.
His international career has been wrecked by niggles and injuries forced him to an early retirement from the Test Cricket in October last year. His appearance in the limited over cricket has also been sporadic. Earlier in April, Oram quite frustrated of his injury list had said that every new niggle eroded the energy of his psyche. But this time the all rounder is not bothered by the latest setback rather he is quite eager and pretty hopeful about a quick recovery and wants to continue until next year’s World Cup. "It's frustrating more than anything but I've been through this before," he said. "I'm confident I can return injury free following a course of rehabilitation."
