Knee injury: Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano confirms season over for WR Austin Collie – NFL News
Having lost most part of his career to three consecutive concussions since November 2010, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie’s another season is on risk and this time it is a knee injury that has brought a disappointing development to chances
of the player’s smooth career progression.
Austin had returned to action for the first time in the game versus Jacksonville Jaguars from the latest head injury he had suffered on August 19 this year but could manage only a single pass from quarterback Andrew Luck before being hit by the knee blow.
He was injured while attempting hard on a six-yard catch and was forced down on the ground motionless for a while. All the spectators mistook the injury as another concussion and gasped in a state of shock for a brief moment but when the player was helped
through to the sidelines with his right leg limping there was a great cheer among the fans.
This explains the state of the affairs of Austin's injuries, which unfortunately have taken a heavy toll on his career. Now coach Chuck Pagano confirmed they were likely to place him on the injured reserve list, meaning he is out of the side for the rest
of the season.
According to the coach, Collie has torn ruptured patella tendon which will require a longer period for recovery and rehab. The official did not elaborate the situation further.
Even in case of his recent comeback, Collie was at risk of suffering another injury given his central position on the field, while the coach denying a possibility of swapping the player’s placement at another position.
Before the recent return some commentators had criticised the coach’s stubbornness about positioning the player at the same place.
Now again they have lashed out at Chuck and directly see it a decision that has compromised security and safety of a talented player. The positioning of the player at another position for a couple of games, if not permanently, could have protected him until
his return to full confidence and fitness.
