Knee problem, what could it be?

My right knee has in the past seemed to have dislocated or something. It gets unmovable until there is a big pop in the knee itself which if you feel it at the time, you can feel some sort of lump travel across the side of the knee.

When at the rare event I place my foot in an awkward posistion for my knee, it seems to happen again with severe pain. Slight movement of the knee with so much pain makes it eventually pop back in place and it's a scary experience.

I did this yesterday for about 20 seconds... now my knee is feeling really stiff and it's difficult to give it a full bend. It's also painfull and the side of my knee is painfull when I poke at it.

What is this problem? How'd you go about it?

  3. See an orthopedic specialist right away.  You might have a tear in one of your meniscii, or cruciate ligaments.  Many things can be possible (also patella dislocation).  Only a doctor can find out what's wrong and help fix the problem.   Also, don't force the knee to bend when it gets locked.

    Good luck.
