Question:

Kneepads for tryouts?

Ok...so here's the deal.

I tried out for volleyball and due to lack of skill, I did not make the cut. But I've practiced all year and now I am pretty sure I am good enough.

My question is:

should I buy kneepads beforehand so if that our coach requires us to dig out balls in tryouts, I can?

I am just scared that digging and sliding will be one of the many drills, and I won't be able to do it if I don't have kneepads. so: should I buy/wear kneepads to tryouts??

  1. You Should alwys wear kneepads! Cause you'll never when your going to have to dig in a volleyball game/tryout. So I suggest you to buy them right away!!

  2. Definately because your coach is probably going to have you do dive drills. Doing them a few times without knee pads is ok but after awhile it gets painful. They are really good to have. Good luck with tryouts.

  3. Yes.  Until you learn to stay off your knees, it will only help protect them and give you the confidence that the ground is not going to hurt.

  4. if you want huge cuts and scraps on your knees andthe pain like i had this season that comes with it dont wear them but if i were you id buy them

  5. I would.

  6. yes you should buy/wear kneepads. even if you dont dig or pass in tryouts, show your coach that you are not ignorant in the sport and you know what equipment you need for practice.

  7. hey buying kneepads would help. i have played for a long time and during tryouts they do alot of digging and setting and serving. you can dive with out kneepads but i leaves a floor burn. but like my coach told us. the team with the most floorburns wins. so buying knee pads would help and even though you might not make it which i hope you do you will have them for next year.

    good luck.

  8. Wearing kneepads to the tryout itself shows the coach that you have become an experienced player, so make sure you have them.

I would recommend Nike dry-fit or a pair of muzuno... bulky kneepads are for beginners... just my thoughts though.

  9. definetly because chances are you are going to have to do some digging in tryouts.  And you will probably have to play a little during tryouts so i think you should!

    Good Luck!  (:

  10. if so then yes, but if you dont, and there are those drills, just do them anyways, youll have scrapped knees for a while, but when you make the team, cuz u will, just buy some.

  11. You should definitely buy and wear kneepads because you want to be able to be agressive and go for balls you couldn't otherwise go for. Also, probably all coaches have digging and passing as an important part of tryouts, as everyone needs to know how to pass well. Kneepads aren't too expensive, only about $20, and a good investment. Good luck with your tryouts!!

  12. i dont wear them but because i am used to it but if i was u i would
