Knife Carrying Laws Ontario Canada? Easy 10 Points For The First Correct Link?

I would like to know what the laws are for carrying a pocket knife in Ontario Canada. What is the blade length limit? Does it have to be showing, or can you have it in your pocket? I know switchblades are illegal, and they have nothing to do with my question. I would like to know because I often use one for hunting and fishing.

  1. "Hunting and fishing" purposes. Nice. I wonder if the cops would buy that.

    Use google dude.

  2. Below is excellent link that spells it out in pretty plain terms, but includes a link to a government website as well.

Canada is largely what I like to call a "judgement call" jurisdiction, rather than a strictly "blade measuring" jurisdiction.  This is like many American states too.

What it means is, a knife that is intended as a tool AND looks like it reasonable is a tool is legal.  But "weapon-like" or "fighting" knives are not, regardless of their length.  And it's up to the police to judge that.  Typically knives with huge blades over 4 inches are not plausible to police as tools, unless they're a kitchen knife or something (which you ought not to be carrying on your body anyway).

Also, it does have to show, and not be concealed, though you can get a permit if you want.

This is just one source you can check for Prohibited weapons for example.  I will get another site for you.
