  1. A knife is usually sharpened on only one side, and can be used for various tasks besides combat, such as preparing food, hunting etc.

A dagger is sharpened on both sides, is usually lighter and more evenly balanced, and is used solely as a weapon.

  2. Generally, daggars are double-edged blades intended for stabbing.  Knives on the contrary are single-bladed intended for cutting.

  3. "Dagger" sounds so much more dramatic.

  4. isnt a dagger sharp on both sides???

  5. A knife is a objects that is meant for cutting items, and most of the time is not made as a weapon. A dagger is a object that is meant as a weapon. It is also to stab people, not slice.

  6. normally, a dagger(sometimes called a "dirk") is a two sided blade, that is, it is sharp on both sides. A knife usually has only one side of the blade sharpened, but sometimes has a "false" edge that goes part way up the back of the blade.

  8. daggers are only used as a weapon. knives can be used as weapons, but they're also used for cooking. no one chops vegetables with a dagger.

  9. As most people have said the main difference between a knife and dagger is it has a double edged blade. It can be any size and weight a normal knife can be up to the point of becoming a short sword.  The dagger has been around since blades were first forged and were used for everyday cutting and food preparation to as someone said, stabbing people. If you look at historically used knives 95% of them would be daggers.

Be aware of your local laws if you intend to buy one as they are illegal in a lot of places now and you may be required to have a permit/exemption to purchase and own them.
