Knight Riders’ Coach Dav Whatmore excited about closing in on IPL playoffs
Kolkata Knight Riders coach, Dav Whatmore, is delighted that his side are a win away from the play-offs of the ongoing Indian Premier League season.
“It’s a wonderful feeling,” exclaimed the team coach.
With seven wins from 11 fixtures, the team is ranked at the 3rd position on the IPL points table with 14 points. Another win from the next three group league games will raise them to the top of the table.
“The way we have been able to shape our fortunes and be in a situation where we don't have to depend on favourable results from other teams show that enough work has been done in the body of the tournament,” he maintained.
The coach elaborated that the next three fixtures are crucial, so the men need to continue putting in a persistent effort.
The Kolkata team has never made it to the play offs as they have not won more than seven games in each edition of the IPL.
Whatmore was confident that the squad’s “skill level” has shown immense improvement as compared to the previous seasons.
The string of successive wins also boosted their confidence and trust in their abilities. According to Whatmore, their brilliant performances contributed to a healthier environment within the team.
"Also, the way we managed to string together wins in this tournament. That improved our confidence, made the environment in the team a lot healthier," the coach elaborated.

Speaking of Sourav Ganguly’s debut for the Pune Warriors, his new team, Whatmore said that the player has accomplished what he wanted to do.
“As you see, we can’t watch him (Sourav Ganguly) play today because we are training. I’m very happy for him. This is what he wanted to do and he has done it,” stated Whatmore.
