Hi, I'm going to make some striped leg warmers with a size 11 needle. I;m going to knit two rectangles and then hem them to make them. I'm a small woman's size. I'm going to rib them (purl 2, knit 2 style). My question: How much should I cast on? Thanks a BUNCH!!

  1. Most likely 30 sts with a size 11 and chunky yarn.  It's hard to say for sure.  You'll want them tight enough that they won't be too loose, and size 11's will make them stretchy.

    Here's a pattern http://xtreme-knitting.com/photos-legwar...

If you're unsure then do a swatch.  Cast on 30 sts and work the ribbing for a few rows.  Take them off the needle and wrap it around your leg, see how it fits.  Then start over and adjust it or keep it at 30.  It will only take 5 minutes to do the swatch and you could save yourself the trouble having to start them all over after you've finished.

  2. Here is a link for legwarmers.

Have you seen the new yarn that makes stripes automatically? Here is a link to marymaxim to view it.
