  1. Yep.  Relax.  Loosen that death grip on your needles.  Relax your hands and relax your brain.  When you cast on, hold both your needles together as you work, one right next to the other.  That'll give you a little more space to work your first row.  At each stitch, pull the yarn out just a little.  Your knitting should slide easily enough along the needles when you push it, but should not move much otherwise.

  2. Practice and time will solve your problem!  You're holding your yarn tension too tightly and/or you need a larger needle - relax, ease up on the tension, try to knit loosely.  Also use 4 ply worsted weight yarn and a size 10-13 needle at first - cast on about 20 stitches, and just knit til you can't stand it anymore, and by that time, your stitches should have loosened up.  Many people will begin a project with a tighter stitch, and then get more loose towards the end - time and practice will help you regulate the tension.  Don't give up!

  3. The answer is superficially simple: don't tighten the loops so much.  If the needles slip out too easily when you make the loops looser, try using wooden needles, which are less slippery than metal or most plastic.  Relax; it gets easier with practice.

  4. you need to loosen your tension, i had the same problem.

    1. dont wrap the yarn too tight around the needle.

    2. work farther from the tip of your needles.

    3. dont tug at your yarn as you finish your knit or purl stitch.

    4. hold the yarn looser.

other than that its just a matter of getting familiar with the knit and purl stitch.

take a look at these 2 videos to make sure that you work the knit and purl stitch correctly.

    knit stitch-  http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/knit-...

    purl stitch- http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/purl-...

just try both methods and see which one is more comfortable for you.
