Question:

Knitting question...?

I'm a beginner and only know the knit and pearl stitches and I'm getting bored...I'm going to begin a scarf and want to add little holes for decoration because that seems simple. I know yarn overs will add holes but I don't want to increase the number of stitches. Is there another way to make the hole, or can I just drop a stitch maybe??

  1. yarn over, then knit two together. If you don't know how, just put your needle into the next two stitches instead of just one, and pull the yarn through both of them.

  2. do yarn over, knit the next 2 stitches together. that way you wont increase your stitch count.

  3. Once you do the yarn over, you need to knit two stitches together to take one stitch away. To do this, put the knitting needle through two stitches on the left needle and knit as usual.

Whatever you do, don't just drop a stitch, that will put runs in the project.

I hope you enjoy knitting. I've been doing it since I was 5.
