im knitting a baby blanket but the pattern says to do one row on the right side and then the next row on the wrong side

here it is:

Row 1 (right side): Knit.

Row 2 (wrong side): Knit 8, (purl 8, knit 4) 9 times, purl 8, knit 8.

how do i switch from right side to wrong side?? do i just flip the blanket? i really have no idea!

  1. Yes, you just take the filled needle from your right hand and put it in your left hand.  This changes sides of the item that you are working on.  The *right* side is the face that is usually seen when in use, the *wrong* side is the face that is usually not seen.  I, personally, prefer the terms public and reverse sides, since these seem to be more easily understood.  The public side is the outer side of a garment and the reverse is the inside.

  2. You knit the first row, and turn the needles to start again on the other side. Then do the pattern stitch. Turn again for the 3rd row and knit across. Then turn and do another pattern row. Repeat as long as the pattern tells you to. From your description of the instructions, it appears that the knit row is the "right" side, and the pattern row is the "wrong" side. Of course, if you like the "wrong" side better, you can declare it the "right" side and use it that way. Actually there is no right or wrong side in knitting unless the creator of the pattern declares one side to be right and the other wrong.

    I hope this helps.

  3. there looks to be no right side for this blanket, just pick the side that looks better.

you just turn your work so that the stitches are in your other hand.

  4. The sides are are automatically changed when you start the new row.   Row 1 is right side, Row2 is wrong sde, Row 3 is right side, etc.
