Question:

Knitting with circular needles?

I am knitting a blanket with circular needles. I am about halfway through and all of a sudden after I finish a row, there is a strand of yarn staying connected to what should be the end. What am I doing wrong? Does this even make sense?

  1. I agree the only thing you can do is rip out until you find your mistake.  You can go to knittinghelp.com to view videos on fixing mistakes.

  2. It sounds like you maybe continued around in one loop instead of turning your work and starting a new row.  This was my problem when I first started using circulars.  I'd echo the other responses and say you should frog your work back to where the extra piece of yarn is and make sure you turn the blanket (just like you would on straight needles) when you finish a row.  Good luck!!!

  3. it sounds like you worked in the round instead of rows.

a tip that you can try to prevent yourself from doing this again would be to put a stitch marker at the end of your row, that way when you get to that stitch marker you know to turn your work.

  4. do you have so many stitches on your needle that you could not distinguish where the end of the row was to turn and have continued to knit in the round instead?  Sounds  like it.

Undo your knitting to mistake and place different coloured marker on needle at end of row and when you get to this marker remember to turn your work.
