Knock Out Investment (KOI) sues Alistair Overeem over breach of contract – UFC News
According to reports, the Dutch mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Alistair Overeem has been in trouble recently.
Reports claim that he has been sued by the Knock Out Investments (KOI). The company had made a deal with the fighter but Overeem breached the contract. The officials of KOI were angry over Overeem’s actions when he did not follow the correct protocol and
jeopardized the contract.
Reports say that KOI and Overeem made a 5-year deal but Overeem broke the deal and with it the contract. The management of KOI say that Overeem is supposed to pay KOI thirty percent of commission. This payment was due from Overeem soon after he had his bout
against Fabricio Werdum at Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum in June 2011. The fighter hasn’t paid the money which led KOI take the step.
At one end KOI is after Overeem and it has been reported that Overeem has sued Golden Glory, a Netherlands based Muay Thai, kickboxing and MMA camp. Overeem wishes to end his contract with Golden Glory for they were not professional in handling him. Overeem
claims that Golden Glory has to pay him $151,000 and since they aren’t paying him the due amount he wants to end the contract for good.
Many believe Overeem hasn’t clearly specified the damages he has faced and that his actions don’t have enough proof. The two management companies, KOI and Golden Glory are both connected as Golden Glory is an affiliate of the former. Overeem later announced
he will not be part of Golden Glory anymore and has joined Xtreme Couture Gym situated in Las Vegas.
Both the company and Overeem blamed each other for this fiasco. According to KOI, Overeem went public talking against KOI that it had breached the contract first and that Overeem’s trust has been broken. KOI stand correct by taking Overeem in court while
some think that the fighter has taken his step in haste. The CEO of Zuffa Inc. Lorenzo Fertitta has also come into the picture and is supporting Overeem. Fertitta told Overeem that the fighter is being deceived by KOI and Golden Glory and that Overeem should
take some step to get his money which KOI owes him.
