Knock Pistol shoots ahead to A8 victory at Hove
In the world of 515m greyhound races, there is no greater combination than thrilling victories and lots of excitement. The racers at Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium in Brighton raced
to some great results Friday morning, much to the delight of the race-loving faithful.
Knock Pistol (4-1) shot ahead of the pack in the A8 race to earn a great victory with a 30.91 seconds finish. Coming out of trap one, he held an early pace, and used it to his advantage
to take control of the race. Finishing in second place was Avonside Lucky (7-2), who was 2¼ lengths behind the winner in 31.09. His progress was impeded when he baulked the run up, but he later rebounded to challenge second.
The third-place finisher was Peggys Charm (7-1), who earned her position by a head’s length. She completed the race with a time of 31.10. A single length behind her was Miss Smokie (7-1),
who had every chance to win, but ended up in fourth place with a 31.18 finish. Clairkeith Caleb (3-1) stumbled out of trap five, and raced to a 31.19 finish which was a shoulder behind fourth place.
The last position went to Kirstys Delight, the 5-2 favourite. Her chances at winning the race were put in jeopardy when she crowded third, fourth, and the run up. Her 31.20 finish was
a head behind Clairkeith Caleb.
The A4 race that followed featured a surprising finish from Greenacre Steve, one of two 9-2 long shots in this race. He held an early pace from trap three, and despite some crowding, he
led first to win the race in 30.33. Young Neil, the 5-2 favourite, moved quickly from the pack, but baulked at first to take second place in 30.47. He finished 1¾ lengths out of the top spot.
Miss Ellie Rose (4-1) claimed third place with a 30.51 finish that was just a ½ length behind the favourite. Despite crowding and checking at fourth, Miss Ellie Rose was able to finish
the race in the top three. Fourth place went to Smoking John (4-1), who finished a shoulder out of the number three position. He matched Miss Ellie Rose’s time of 30.51.
A fifth-place finish was no joke for Guinness Joker (4-1), who slowly moved away from the pack and went wide to complete the race in 30.67. He finished 2 lengths out of fourth place. Kylegrove
Bev, the other 9-2 long shot, earned the sixth and final spot with a 30.77 finish that was 1¼ lengths behind fifth place.
The racing action at Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium continues on Saturday 18 September with a 12-race card. The first race of the night is scheduled to begin at 19:30.
