Knock offs?

I'm on my way to Korea. I hear you can find some good knock-offs there. What are your alls opinions??? Anyone use any? Can I find a Nike Squarehead knock off there?

I have not heard any good stories.  Besides our economy needs you to support American compnies (even if they have stuff made and assembled overseas).  But the most important part of any club is the shaft and I've heard they use the cheapest they can get.

I've heard rumors like this, also. If you are familiar with golf clubs, I would recommend thoroughly inspecting any club you are thinking of purchasing. Look particularly for the welds on the club head and see whether they come together well (so you can hardly tell they're there) or whether the workmanship looks sloppy. A lot of knock-off clubs (also called "clone" clubs) are made in Asia in the same factories that make the big name brands, so their quality is top-notch, just like the name brand. There are also a lot, though, that are just crappy clubs. Check out the grips, too. I know it's a minor aspect of the club, but a better club generally has a better grip, whereas the cheapos are trying to squeeze out every penny and cut corners even here.

I would try to get something that has a name brand shaft, and I would DEFINITELY recommend trying to hit the club before buying it.

An alternative to this method would be to buy a clone club from an American company (although the club will still most likely be manufactured in Asia). That way, you are assured of the quality of your club and you have legal recourse if anything should go wrong.

There are a number of good places online (see links below) where you can get a knock-off of a Nike, TaylorMade, Ping, etc... driver for about $100. Keep in mind that at this price, you won't get the best shaft on the market, but you can get a great driver at a great price.

Also, check out their irons. I've bought clone irons before and have been very pleased with them.

You'll find it no problem. Whether it's any good is another question. I have two friends with differing experiences.

1: Brought a Taylor Made Monza Rossa putter, the logo fell out of the putter after one round but apart from that it has held up great, he putts fantastic and still uses it 3 years later.

2: Brought Callaway X18 Irons, 7 Iron head broke after 2 weeks, no shop would touch them as they were fake, 5 iron broke about 2 months later, shaft on PW broke about 6 months after purchase.

So as long as you know the risks before you buy fill your boots mate.
