Question:

Knock-on rule should be relaxed?

If you deliberately pass the ball forward then OK it's against the rules but when in a ruck and the ball slips a couple of inches, why stop the game? Rugby is getting so stop-start it spoils the flow. It's not a safety issue like high tackles

  1. Surely your missing the point of rugby, one of the main laws is the ball can not go forwards unless kicked so relaxing this would be like saying you can handle the ball in football?!...It just wouldnt work, in rugby you need laws to be set in stone so there is no misunderstanding as its such a physical game that people will get hurt if the rules are not adhered to and also inforced correctly by the match officials so relaxing then would just be silly

If you dont want to watch a stop start game then dont watch rugby union, the whole point of this sport is more than the open play its the whole package of Scrums, Lineouts as well as the attacking phase play.

  2. I dont think this is the area they should look at, clearly they should look at the scrums because the new laws aren't working.

  3. No give an inch they'll take a mile. The ref is the sole judge so the flow is not spoiled. Think about it

  4. its an interesting point

the best new rule suggested was a set number of penalties then a yellow card (say 5) that would keep the game going

  5. I have clearly noticed that in rugby this year and even in league aswell they call knock-ons even when the ball goes backwards. This rule should definatley be relaxed

  6. I think refs should relax a bit more on the knock on rule as a ball that is dropped and doesnt bounce forward is often deemed by refs to be knocked on. Disagree with there being less numbers in the scrum, there wouldnt be any space for players to attack and there would be more ruck situations slowing the game down even more!
