Knockgraffon Lad and Naoise joint favourites for Dundalk Stadium on Facebook Handicap
Knockgraffon Lad and Naoise have been given the highest starting price for Dundalk Stadium on Facebook Handicap, taking place at Dundalk on Wednesday, May 02, 2012.
Both runners are not fresh winners, however, considering their enormous talent, one cannot ignore their chances for the top spot. A nail-biting is on the cards, as the two sprinters are desperate for success.
They don’t have much time to get ready, as the party is about to begin. The officials are due to start the 1-mile event at 19:45 GMT. The contenders will run for a purse of €6,900.
Among the confirmed entries are: Knockgraffon Lad, Naoise, Gaiety Theatre, Kedleston, Pivotal Rock, Rock On Ciara, Slim Chance, Mountain Coral, Six Silver Lane, Independent Girl, Mamma Rosa, Solent Ridge, World Ruler and Sextons
House.
Knockgraffon Lad’s recent performance was pretty impressive. The audience at Dundalk saw him missing the top spot only by ½ a length.
M. J. Byrne’s trainee performed superbly at the end of last year. In December, the bay gelding sealed three consecutive wins at the same venue.
He is yet to show similar work this year, but today’s race looks like an ideal opportunity for him to regain his winning momentum.
Among his opponents, Naoise seems to be the strongest candidate. The four-year-old has a wonderful track record at Dundalk.
After securing the runner-up place at the start of March, J. S. Bolger’s trainee improved his work significantly and topped the chart in the www.redbook.ie Handicap later that month.
In his most recent trip, the colt could not maintain good standards and as a result, finished fifth in the Irish News Against The Breeze Rated Race.
Kedleston is also in winning mood these days. The three-year-old clinched two consecutive wins earlier this year.
The latest of his triumphs came at the start of February, when he blitzed his opponents in the Leucillin Horseware Ireland 3yo Handicap. Just like Naoise, he failed to carry on with the good stuff and consequently fell fifth
last time around.
Knockgraffon Lad and Naoise can easily be declared joint favourites, but Kedleston’s class is hard to overlook. We wish the best of luck to everyone.
