Knocking noise coming from Whirlpool Gold... knocking occurs ocassionally mine is not a gold but

knocking occurs ocassionally mine is not a gold but still whirlpool, and the knocking noise, whick started a week ago, is slowly increasing day by day, i have defrosted my freezer, cleaned the back and still it continues. any ideas?
