Question:

Knockoff golf clubs on Ebay?

I see lots of full sets of golf clubs on Ebay between $80-$200 bucks. I assume these are knockoffs, BUT as a golf novice, is anything wrong with me getting one of these sets to start with?

I would of course buy from only power sellers with 99% positive feedback.

Also if some of you have purchased some of these yourself, can you tell me about your experience with these clubs and if you recommend it.

thanks

  1. As a general rule check item location. If it's from Asia, it's fake. Also, read the listing carefully. If it's poor english, it's probably fake. Buying used is always a good idea. I bought a cleveland wedge 6 years ago slightly used and I still hit it. So it just depends. Use your best judgment.

  2. I get my clubs from the site below and had great results.

  3. Ive used Tour Model T7 clubs (TaylorMade R7 clones)for 3 years.Loved them so much i purchased the knock off cgb max from Tour Model.I broke the 90s fist time out this year.84 to be exact. So yea those i would recomend, that is if you are a Taylor Made fan but cant afoord the name.

  4. The most important component of a golf club is the shaft, and from what I've heard the shafts in knockoffs are poor so you won't get good results even when you make a perfect swing.  Get the best equipment you can afford, but stay away from knock-offs on Ebay.  Try Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy where they sell top name brand used clubs.  You can get a great set that is a little dinged up for less than half the new cost and you know you have quality equipment that will hold up.

  5. I've seen and heard many stories concerning the quality of knockoffs. Some say they're okay. A lot say they beak very easily.

The worst part, from what I've seen is the shaft. Very low quality shafts, that will bend or break. Also the hosel breaks easily.

You can buy many beginner sets at around 200 that are brand name. Wilson comes to mind. Or, buy a used set that's a few years old. I picked up a set of x-20's by Callaway for around $300 when the new ones are around $700!

  6. There are lots of fake clubs on E-bay. Try Pine Meadow golf clubs they make very good clones at one fourth the price.

Ive been playing  mine for three years and they are still great clubs.
