  1. The number one selling golf ball in the world is the Titleist ProV1. The ProV1 golf

ball is designed for golfers with club head speeds of about 97 miles per hour plus.

Only about 2% of golfers have a club head speed that is over that. There's a problem

here. Those kind of numbers mean that there is a lot of people out there who are

spending an awful lot of money on a golf ball that is not suited to them.

Nothing against the ProV1 which is a phenomenal golf ball but even Titleist reps will

be the first to admit that it is not suited for the average player. The idea of the ProV1

is that the core reacts with higher swing speeds to produce greater distance. The

higher the swing speed the more the core compresses and the further it goes. If a

player is not generating enough swing speed to compress the core than they will

    actually lose distance.

If your average drive travels between 180 and 230 yards you should probably be using

a “low compression” ball. This would include the Maxfli Noodle, Titleist DT So/Lo,

Precept Laddie/Lady, Dunlop LoCo, and many others. These golf balls are designed

with softer cores that will compress at a lower swing speed thereby creating more

    distance.

If your average drive is between 220 and 270 yards you would probably want to

consider a two or three piece ball along the lines of the Titleist NXT or NXT Tour,

Callaway Big Bertha, Hogan Hawk, or Nike Power Distance. These balls are designed

to accommodate most golfers and there are many varieties of spin, distance, or all

around performance balls to meet your needs.

If you average over 270 (and I'm talking consistently, not just that one-day when you

really got a hold of one) then you are probably safe to look at the ProV1, Callaway

HX, Bridgestone B330, Nike One, or others. Only players in this category will

actually be able to appreciate the overall performance of one of these balls.

  2. It's completely a matter of personal preference.   I've always liked Titelist balls but find the cost of Pro V's to be prohibitive.  My personal preference is the NXT Tour by Titelist.  I don't find any real difference in performance and the NXTs are half the price.  Rather than worry about whether to use Titelists, Callways, Nike etc (they all have balls ranging from pro quality to 'duffer' quality) concentrate on how good a quality ball you feel comfortable with.  From that point the manufacturer doesn't really make that much difference.

  3. I think that too many amateurs -- even good amateurs like yourself -- use tour caliber balls. If you want to improve your game, go get a golf ball fitting at Golf Galaxy, or a local shop. I did, and was surprised to see the results.

All that said, my preferred Tour Level balls are the Bridgestones.

  4. Why don't you play with both and see which one you like the best.  I don't like either ball to be honest.  Nike One Black or Platinum are better balls.  They spin faster and are softer.

  5. neither I always suggest either a noodle or a dunlop. I sometimes play pro-staff. They are all good.

  6. I theory, the ball you should used if depend on your swing speed.... more speed, you have more choice.

If your swing speed less than 88 then you should use 2 layers ball.  If your speed 88 - 101, then you could use 3 layers ball... more than 101 you can use 4 layers ball.

pro-v1x and callaway hxtour ix are have same contruction balls 4 layers, 90 compression, 332 dimples, which is designed for player who have high swing speed.  Both also have goo feel around the green.  Also for the price, also aboout the same price.

So, base on technical information both ball are same, so now its more personal... try both ball and select which one you like.

Some people say, golf ball are more personals than underwear.

  7. callaway hxtour it is the best ball i ever played

  8. Titleist NXT Tour, or Callaway Big Bertha, both excellent balls for your skill level.  Pro V's and Hx Tours are tour quality balls and really do you a diservice by using them.  Also, another not so bad ball is the Nike Juice which is a long ball, but not the greatest on getting shots to stop on the green, but overall not a bad ball.  Any where between $20-30 a dozen are great balls for you.

  9. the best way to find out which ball you like is just to go out and play with several different ones you think you would maybe use. the prov1x and hxtour are very similar balls in my opinion. its completely up to waht you like the feel of best and just the over all playabiility
