    CCR

    Wilco

    Neil Young

    some Led Zeppelin

My favorite song? Hard to choose but 'Ten Years After - I'd Love to Change the World' is kick A**.

  4. Butterfly by Cruachan is insane. Or The Rocky Road to Dublin. Or Spancill Hill.

Or you can try anything by America. I'm especially partial to the soundtrack to "The Last Unicorn" or "Das Letzte Einhorn".

  5. Idlewild - Live In A Hiding Place

Belle & Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap

    Seafood - Pleasurehead

  6. Definitely the first Ryan Adams (Heartbreaker) - his duet with Emmylou Harris alone is worth the price of the CD.  If you like your folk-rock in the Gram Parsons vein, this'll do it for you.

Steve Earle - El Corazon, Feel Alright, Washington Square Seranade... they're all fantastic.

Check out Jeffrey Foucault - not a well known artist, but his CDs Stripping Cane and Ghost Repeater are two of my absolute favourites.

Jules Shear has an amazing stripped-down CD called The Third Party, very Dylanesque.

Some of Tom Waits' early stuff - Old '55 (made famous by the Eagles), I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You... his songwriting rivals Bob Dylan's, in my opinion.

  7. Try Bob Dylan

  8. Bob Dylan - the entire album, Blonde On Blonde.

(one of my favorite albums EVER) =)

or CSNY (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young); "Guinnevere" or "Helplessly Hoping"

or if you want something a little more current, try

The Felice Brothers; "Mercy" or "Frankie's Gun"

The Avett Brothers "Die Die Die" or "One Line Wonder"

or Emily Jane White; "Sleeping Dead" or "Wild Tigers I Have Known"

  9. Hmm.... as far as the modern ones go:

    Beirut - The Penalty

    The Decemberists - O Valencia

Bright Eyes - First Day Of My Life

    Johnny Flynn - Leftovers

If you want older folk rock bands, then Sandy Denny, Fairport Convention etc.

Also Neil Young. Anything off Harvest.

Also try Nick Drake for just folk, especially Way To Blue.
