do you know any people willing to donate $35,000 to a school for an educational fieldtrip to Washington D.C.? We're trying to get some money for this fieldtrip that will help us in our lessons on American History, but we have no money to go with. It's sad... Please help us.

  1. Why don't you see if the parents are willing to pay $500 for there children. The the children that don't have the money, you will have to raise the money for. That will cut down a lot of money. Try to get people to donate by having a carnival. Hold a $5 entrance fee, in the carnival have a bake sale, car wash, dunk tank, have teachers offer there face to throw pies at, etc. Good luck! Remind everyone it is for a better education.

  2. How much is that per student?  Possibly each student could raise their own cost.  It might take all year, but it would teach valuable lessons about hard work.

On the surface, a trip to D.C. is a rather common thing, and I don't see a lot of appeal to a donor.  It's not an urgent need, like building an orphanage or AIDS center in Africa.  But maybe you could approach a well-to-do alumnus (alumna).

  3. Have a bake sale to raise money. Have a big movie night for everyone in the school with a good movie and have people donate at it. If it is a good cause then people will donate. Put, like, $5-10 dollars as the suggested donation and make sure you mention the word educational. Have people volunteer food for it, too. More people will come if you have popcorn and drinks and lots of good food. It will raise a fair amount of money. You might have to have people work somewhere to get some more money. Also, you can not have to pay for as many buses and only have, like, one and parents chauffeur the rest of everyone. Take a poll of who would ride the bus and who could be driven. Make everyone else bring thier own lunch $, that way you guys don't have to. Is it overnight? Book rooms at a Best Western. They really aren't that bad. I have had to stay in the dog rooms and even those aren't that bad.
