Question:

Know anything about a Royal Caribbean (or any cruise line) wedding in Juneau Alaska?

I am considering getting married in Juneau, Alaska as part of our Royal Caribbean cruise (either the glacier or rain forest). I would like information from anyone who has done this (even if it was something similar on a different cruise line or at a different port) or knows someone who has. Were you happy with it? Would you recommend it? What are the pros/cons? Any information you have would be great.

  3. We just got married on board RCCL Liberty of the Seas in Jamaica.  I've been to Juneau on an RCCL cruise but obviously not for a wedding!!

I couldn't have asked for a better wedding day.  Everything was looked after, our families had a wonderful time and I was definitely on cloud nine!

After reflecting on the whole process I wouldn't have changed anything but I do think I would have dealt with RCCL a bit differently.

Here's what I mean jsut for your reference...

When making you're wedding arrangements you talk with representatives from RCCL over the phone and you can call them at any time.  That is great and they are more then happy to help you but I felt that their connection to me was really lacking.  They never once phoned my to congratulate us and to explain how the process works or anything to easy my anxiety (as brides always have!).  I just really feel like they should have made more of an effort to provide me with the appropriate information.

Now, everything still worked out in the end and like I said, I could have asked for a better day (all the staff on board were wonderful) but in the months leading up to your departure make sure you're in close contact with RCCL...don't wait for them to call you!

Here are a couple of other things I recommend!

Pay for extra photography time.  The time that is included in the basic package is only good enough for the ceremony and cake cutting...not enough for various family and couple shots.

Don't plan any excursions for that day as you want to be able to focus on your wedding.

Book you're wedding day dinner in on of the onboard restaurants.  We had our dinner in the Portofino.  It did cost extra money but it was well worth it to have the private dining exprience.

For convenience consider renting a tux from the ship.  My husband (starting to get used to calling him that!) did that and even though we did have to get it altered, it was much better then having to carry it around the various airports, etc.

And other then that I guess just have a blast.  We were only 9 people all together so it was pretty informal but we had a wonderful time together as a family.  To me, it was worth every penny!!

    Hope this helps and congrats!
