My boyfriend is 21 and i'm only 19. I read on a cruiseline info that you have to be 21, and if you're not you have to be with a legal gaurdian. and if you ARE 21 and 19 (for example) you have to have a valid marriage license...

well, we dont want to get married and we want to go on a cruise! Is there anyway to get around this or any cruiselines that allow it?

  1. You guys would be fine on Royal Carribean.  Double check, but I believe one guest (of non parent or guardian nature) may be 21 as long as the other is over 18.

  2. You can probably get permission from your parents that say that your boyfriend is the legal guardian while you are on the ship.

  3. Here's what you need to know.

First you have to have someone age 21 or older to book the cruise.  Since your boyfriend is 21 both of you can go together on any cruise line except Carnival because unlike all of the other cruise lines  Carnival requires a person age 25 or older in each cabin.

Second, since  you are under age 21 and not traveling with your parents you will need their written permission in the form of letter signed by them and notarized stating that they give you permission to travel on the cruise with ........ (your boyfriend).

Here's what Royal Caribbean Cruise line's web site says about minors:

" Adults who are not the parent or legal guardian of a minor traveling with them must present an original notarized letter signed by the child's parent(s), authorizing the adult to take the child on the specific cruise, supervise the child and allow emergency medical treatment to be administered.

Please note: An individual's age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for the entire cruise vacation. Royal Caribbean International does not accept reservations for student groups. Please consult a travel agent for Royal Caribbean's group policies"

NO, you do not need to get married to go on the cruise together. The cruise lines do have a rule/policy that persons under age 21 can cruise if they are married and show a marriage certificate as proof.

So, if you follow these rules you can use any cruise line right now except Carnival.

The cruise line that I recommend for you is Royal Caribbean because they cater to young people and have the most activities on the ship for passengers.  Another option would be Norwegian Cruise line, or Princess.

  4. For cruises you have to be 21, some cruiselines the minimum age is 25.

The only exception is if you are married and have a marraige license to prove it.

You'll have to wait til your old enough.
