Or are you looking into traveling abroad? I know EF College Break is the cheapest touring company for students.. and I know the code Tech2009 saves some extra money...

As far as airfare:

Travelocity.com or Kayak.com is what I use.

That really depends on where you're starting out from -- if the cost of gas or plane tickets is coming out of the $1000, that makes a huge difference.
