Know of any really cool places for a birthday party in Macomb County Michigan for an 8 yr. old boy?

I've already done the Chuck E. Cheese, Jeepers, CJ Barrymores, Pump It Up. I'm looking for something different. Joe Dumars packages are outrageous since food is at an additional cost.

You seemed to have hit all the big ones that I would think of....here are some other thoughts:

*Movies

*Bowling

*Buffalo Wild Wings (Kids meals are cheaper on family night)

*indoor waterpark at that Sterling Inn (on Van d**e at 15 or 16 mile)

*laser tag (I'm sure there are still places offering this, maybe?)

*paintball (maybe a bit dangerous, not sure on the expense...but boys like that sort of thing)

I'm not sure what time of year your sons birthday is, but you can always go to a park, beach, waterpark, or the Detroit Zoo.

Could you bring your own cake in to Joe Dumars?  If so, you might not have to worry about the cost of food - just let them play and serve dessert, pass on the meal options.  

Another thought is to limit the number of guests - maybe drop it to a small number (1-4) of his close friends - and take them to a Tiger's game or another fun event that your son would enjoy.  The options are a little better with a smaller group, anyways.  (You can do a separate family party at another time consisting of just cake and presents - or incorporate that into your small gathering.  For instance, do it before you head out to the event.)  Do a sleepover for his friends - or camp out in the backyard - rent a bunch of movies or video games, have them create their own tacos or mini pizzas and have cake and a sundae bar.  Let him take a friend and take them to Cedar Point for the day.  

You might want to come up with some options that seem good to you and get his input, too.  His thoughts might surprise you, or he may also have some suggestions!
