Know of good relatively inexpensive places to eat in Niagara Falls, Ontario?

I'm traveling to Niagara falls in a few weeks with my mom, best friend and my 6 year old. I hear that because it's such a touristy area, food is unreasonably expensive. So, I would love to hear where other people have found good value for a family meal on a moderate budget.

  1. There are also a lot of cheap buffet type places. the farther that you go away from the tourist strips, the cheaper the food should be.

  2. In the falls,  reasonably priced and really good food would be the "Flying Saucer Drive-In"...can't find it in the yellow pages only white pages...6768 Lundys Lane

Stay away from Denny's downtown....they double the prices during tourist season....confirmed by the waitress when we noticed the price difference and asked....this was in July

Denny's by the Niagara Factory outlets is pretty good but a costs more than Flying Saucer

If you have the chance to drive in to St. Catharines or Thorold (about 10-15 minutes away)....go to Cosmo's Diner - 26 Front N. (downtown Thorold) or Opa's & Oma's - 20 Hartzel Road in St. Catharines....both these places have great food and reasonable prices....but are only open until about 3 p.m.

If you want a reaaaaally tasty supper and love Italian food....I recommend Coppola's Ristaurante - 203 Carlton in St. Catharines - it is a little more pricey (budget about $20-$30 per person)....but well worth it!....better go early (before 5 p.m.) or make reservations as it is very busy.

Just thought of another place NOT to go in the Falls....Rainforest Cafe on Clifton Hill.....you pay for atmosphere....took my daughter there for lunch....one kids size spaghetti and I had some chicken dish.....cost over $25....food was cold and not that tasty and we left hungry....very small portions!!

  3. There are also Swiss Chalets, Harveys and other fast food places and in the mall near the Casino there is a food court.

Most place in Niagara Falls ON are reasonable, sure there are some pricier palces but there not going to get you in and then drop a big bill on you, for 3 people and a small child you should be able to eat reasonably for under $60 in most palce for lunch and dinner, for breakfast try the 2 Dennys that were listed I know both of them and they are good size places and the menu's are like the U.S ones, only Canadian foods and prices.
