Knowing today's advancement are against the greener environment, why is it encouraged?

for example : -

mobile phones, sim cards, mp3 player, cd, which all has radio active particles and knowing this, the recycling is done only 50% and the rest is dumped in another land which still belongs to earth? so why?

because we want our creature comforts......would you like to live like a caveman??? i like my MP3 and maybe one day, all these advancements will help the earth...

Because people don't want to spend extra $$$ on something that's greener.  

Money will eventually kill Human life.

there are several reasons but here are a few to think about:

1) many people do not believe that the environment is as fragile as environmentalists say.  therefore they do not have 'protect the environment' as a top priority.

2) it's what people want.  you, for instance, like using your computer even though it is one of those advancements.  you can do a LOT of good with a computer.   the good you can do is bigger than the help it would be for one computer less to exist.

3) those same technologies are allowing for MORE green technologies--ppl buying cell phones pays for the research to make greener phones. same with cars, etc.

the environment is not the only priority.  it is an important one but not the only one. our society accomplishes more stuff more efficiently than ever in history.  we may have an impact on the environment, but if we can have a bad one we can have a good one.  we keep getting better all the time
