  1. I would take a look at your classes and look at which major most of your classes fall into. The major doesn't matter.. Think of it more as a guideline to help you choose classes that will prepare you for the future. In your case, since you don't know the major, choose the classes that interests you. Chances are, they will fall into something like International Relations or Urban Studies and Planning or even Political Science... There are so many majors these days that I think the focus should be put onto what people are learning from the classes they are taking. In the end, it's about what YOU got out of the education -- not the name or the grade.   Your familiarity, passion and drive for latin america (etc) will show even if you were in a totally unrelated major.

Also, I would look into signing up for the Peace Corps... Look them up if you haven't heard of them. Some of the greatest leaders were a part of it, and it's actually pretty competitive. It's a 4 year commitment (i think) and they ship you out to a rural area. What they do there ranges from building wells to working with the local government... etc etc. The most important aspect of this opportunity is the fact that you will be there with the people, rather than sitting in a library reading about it. Good luck on your journey :)
