We crave all knowing power, but He held it away for good reason.  We have an inkling and do not know anything to do with it except fight and argue.

Yes, that's true, because knowledge is power..... and power gets corrupted easily unless kept tightly bound by commensurate responsibilities...... rules basically try to define such responsibilities.
