Ko Sung Hyun, Lee Yong Dae advance into quarter-final round of 2012 Korea Open – Badminton News

Men’s Doubles partners Ko Sung Hyun and Lee Yong Dae showed superb coordination and outshined Shin Baek Choel-Yoo Yeon Seong to make way into the quarter-finals of Korea Grand Prix Gold on December 6, 2012.
However, it was not an easy win as both Korean campaigners had to put all in their possession to beat the compatriot duo with a favourable result of 14-21, 21-8 and 21-12.
World Number 31 pair showed great fighting spirit as the loss of opening game subjected them to a tough battle of survival but they managed to save the honour in ending two games.
Sung Hyun and Yong Dae were bit sluggish in the beginning and this passive approach cost them a vital match point.
On the other hand, the opposing team relished full benefits of their blunders and established a decent lead.
The twosome of Baek Choel and Yeon Seong dominated the overall pace of rallies and placed a respectable total of 11 before the interval.
After the mid-game break, they geared up themselves and widened the gap by gathering valuable points in a row. Their hard work paid off as scoreboard flashed 21-14 margin in their favour.
Unexpectedly, they performed terribly in remaining segments of the showdown and crashed out of this GP Gold event in a disgraceful manner.
Meanwhile, the suppressed duo of first set came back from a horrendous start and ended their competitors’ dominance.
Sung Hyun and Yong Dae displayed a transformed character as they did not show any sign of confusion even after receiving a severe blow in the opening game.
They played with right attitude and fortitude to avoid a straight-set defeat and finished this crucial set with a huge difference in final total.
In first half of the set, they did not wait for the right moment and launched a brisk attack which helped them to gain an early advantage.
The prime Korean team maintained that upper hand until last shot was played and registered a winning margin of 21-8.
Third set was just a formality as Sung Hyun-Yong Dae did not take much time to seal their victory with 21-12 score and setup a clash with Gun Woo Cho-Dae Eun Kim in the quarter-finals.
