it's funny how all the laker fans were raving about how unbeatable the lakers were when they were steamrolling through all those western conference teams to get to the finals... when the lakers received that major beatdown by boston in the finals, everyone blames it on kobe's supporting cast...  kobe gets all the glory when his team wins but when they lose, everyone blames his teammates... sounds like a double standard to me but what else can you expect from fans of a player who threw the entire team under the bus the year before and then turns around and calls them brothers the following year when they start winning...

You can't make a good argument.

Shaq had the much better finals team: Dwade, bonafide superstar, Alonzo Mourning (one of the best defensive players ever), Jason Williams (veteran who gets the job done), antoine walker, good veteran, gary payton, good player,etc.

who did Kobe have? Young inexperienced team: farmar, vujacic, turiaf. The only decent players were lamar and fisher.

Another interesting thing is that Kobe lost to the Phoenix Suns twice.  Jordan lost to Larry Birds' Celtics and Isiah Thomas' Pistons.  When you talk about competition does anybody believe that the Phoenix suns of 2005-2006 could beat the 85 Celtiics or 88 Pistons.

Firstly, for anyone to take you seriously, you have to construct your question properly.  I'm not even sure if this is a question.

Secondly, you need to get your fact right.  Lakers didn't get Gasol in '06.

Edit:  Sorry your statement wasn't properly structure so it was confusing.  NBA is tough and so I think it would be difficult for any team to repeat.  It could very well be Kobe's last appearance.  One never know.

First, we all know that Kobe has never been one to ride coat tails. If that was all true then he wouldn't have made it to the finals without him. And if Shaq was all that good why did Heat's record suck so bad, even before Shaq was traded away. Another thing, you can't really tell which player is better if they play different positions. Shaq's not even that talented of a basketball player, he's just bigger than everyone else. Kobe has to use his skill because everyone is either his size or bigger and yet he was this year's MVP. My last point is of course Kobe would do horribly without a good big man, any team would do bad without a big man. You also must consider what team The Lakers played up against this year. They faced a team with three huge superstars. Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett are like a super combination. I wouldn't exactly call it a choke but one team was obviously superior to the other.
