Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers and the sixth championship ring – NBA Special Report
Los Angeles Lakers legendary shooting guard Kobe Bryant and milestones have been synonymous ever since he stepped in the world of NBA. Bryant’s arrival in the professional league was itself a land mark during the 1996 NBA Draft
as he was the first guard ever to be taken out of the high school.
Chasing milestones has always been the spark in Bryant’s performances over the year and one thing is for sure; he has never backed down from accepting any challenge. Considering Kobe is quickly entering in the final phases of his
career, a sixth NBA title is one thing that will be going through his mind and he will be standing against all the odds to make that happen, may be in the next season.
At this point of his career, a sixth championship ring means everything to the 13-time NBA All-Star Bryant. Furnishing the resume with another title, Bryant will be able to even out the championship record of the Hall of Famer
Michael Jordan. Having same amount of NBA titles will make the argument of comparing the careers of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant more interesting.
Secondly, Kobe will be looking forward to mark his name as the All-Time greatest Laker. The distinguished point guard Magic Johnson and legendary Jerry West are the other two players who are regarded as the top players in the franchise
history. Bryant has already surpassed Johnson and West in points and shares the same number of championship with Magic at the moment. Clinching sixth NBA title will definitely guarantee Kobe passing Jerry West and Magic Johnson in terms of career achievements.
Led by Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers were gunning for a three-peat the last season which would have given the sixth NBA title to the future hall of famer. However, the Lakers crashed down against the eventual champions Dallas Mavericks
in the Western Conference semi-finals.
Bryant, who will turn 33 by the end of August, won’t stay at the elite level for a longer period as his body and fitness level will start to diminish which will ultimately feature a downfall in his performance. This means that
he has only few years left to fulfil the dream of his sixth NBA Championship before the things go out of his hands.
On the quest of achieving another NBA title, Kobe Bryant will require the help of his team. The reason for Lakers unforeseen demise in the play-offs was mainly because of the lack of support from the other players. With Pau Gasol
struggling big time in the post-season, the whole responsibility to run the offensive system came on the shoulders of Kobe.
Los Angeles Lakers failed to bring up a second scoring option and as a result, and the season ended in a depressing fashion for the team as they were swept out by the Dallas Mavericks in the Conference semi-finals.
Considering top teams from both the conferences, who are expected to make a run for the title fight, are crammed with the best talents of the league, Los Angeles Lakers need to add some further strength on the roster. Having a
decent backup support is the only way Bryant will be able to nab another championship ring which means everything for the NBA legend.
