Kobe Bryant's game-high 38 couldn't prevent an upset against Sacramento Kings
Another upset for the season took place today at Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA. The Sacramento Kings, who are standing at 14th Place in the Western Conference, defeated the best defensive team of the season, the Los Angeles Lakers, who are
ranked 2nd in the same conference.
An attendance of 18, 997 witnessed this exciting turnaround.
The play started with a Lakers lead as anticipated 33-30.
Kobe Bryant looked aggressive right from the beginning providing his team with an edge. However, the second quarter went to the Kings, who managed to win it by 29-22.
Casspi and Cousins led their side to a much deserved lead in the first half 59-55. Kings game play was appreciable during the first half as they maintained their same momentum in the third quarter leading it by 26-16.
Lakers went far behind until Kobe started to gain possession scoring more points for his side, which all went in vain. Lakers managed to win the final quarter with a big difference 24-15, followed by Bryant’s game-high 38.
But they were unable to overcome the margin that was created by the Kings. The final result came as a close win for the visiting team 100-95, with D. Cousins scoring the most for his side.
After the trade of some important players in recent years, the line-up has been down and finishing last in this regular season.
Today’s match had some up’s and downs putting the ball in Kings court in the end shows that they can still handle pressure as they did today against the squad known as the best defence of all time.
"We have had a lot of ups and downs", forward Omri Casspi told the Kings' official website. "Unfortunately, we managed to lose a lot of games, which were close games for us. It's something we want to change this half of the season".
The season has a long way to go and considering their tonight’s performance, the team will want to lend all their support to forwards O.Casspi and Cousins if they want to improve their ranking.
All they need is to regain momentum and have confidence to make a difference.
