However, hes a jerk  and yells at his teammates all the time!

Maybe not the best but he played a key role in three championships and was the leader of the western conference champs this last season. In addition, his individual stats have been among the best in the league for years. So, yes, by most standards he is a good basketball player.

kobe is good, but what i cant stand is people want "their" team to win so they all resort to the lakers. there are soooo many fake fans for that team. you dont see anybody wearing different jersey's than "Bryant". to me a real basketball fan is someone who enjoy's watching the sport and sticking by their home teams side. that is why i have always been a kings fan, even in their ups and downs.

kobe is a great player. Yea i agree wit some ppl, he doesnt have the heart that michael had but u can't say that kobe didn't want to win. If u watch his games hes not just ok......hes rlly good. He has a stronger build then mj and he is a better 3 point shooter but mj was a better all around player. and he doesnt yell at his teammates unless they make mistakes. If he didnt yell they would keep making those mistakes. Plus, hes  ot a ballhog. i agree he used to be but his averages in assists went up from 3 per game to about 6. i call that improvement.

Michael had way more heart, I have seen Kobe check out emotionally in games when he is loosing, and Michael Never ever did this no matter what and thats part of MJs legacy and greatness.....Kobe doestn have this but he does have some skills for sure

In my opinion, Kobe Bryant is one of the best basketball players in the world, so he is definitely a "good" basketball player.

Kobe Bryant is among the league's best in terms of statistics, but to really determine how good he is we have to go beyond just numbers. Kobe is a notch above all other players right now.  He is an incredible offensive force, able to create his own shots and score at will. But in addition to being the top offensive player in the league, he is a very good defensive player. He is an 8 time All-Defensive Team selection.  This balance is what makes him so good.

In addition to all of that talent, he has a tremendous amount of experience, including playoff experience.  There are other talented players in this league, but many of them do not have as much experience.  Kobe also has three championships.  He also has such a desire to win.  He will do whatever it takes to win.  He also works extremely hard at improving his game.  These are traits we have seen in all of the great NBA players throughout the history of the league.  There are other talented players who do not necessarily have the same desire to win and/or the same work ethic.

HIs combination of offensive skill, defensive skill, experience (including playoff experience), championships, desire to win, and a strong work ethic is what makes him great.  Some players have some of these characteristics, but only a rare few have all of them.

If you were to poll those with the most professional basketball knowledge, such as fellow NBA players, NBA coaches, GM's, the media that covers the NBA, and other NBA executives, they would overwhelmingly agree that Kobe Bryant is the best player in the world right now.
