Kobe Bryant implicated in a church brawl; Denies it – NBA Update
Los Angeles Lakers players have been the prominent on the NBA scope for the last couple of months, not much because of their sporting activities, but mostly due to activities that are not related in any way with basketball.
First it was Ron Artest, who declared that he is changing his name to Metta World Peace. Then Andrew Bynum thought that after enduring so many injuries last season, he is eligible to park his car in space specified for the disable
persons. It is pertinent to mention that Bynum took two spaces.
And then very recently, Matt Barnes once again reminded us all that he acts before he thinks. Barnes punched as rival player during a summer league game. It was the same facility where he hit a coach last summer.
In the midst of all this, Kobe Bryant, yes the Los Angeles Lakers’ ace shooting guard, Kobe Bryant must be feeling left out. And apparently, he recently did something about it.
According to reports, the San Diego police are investigating a case filed against Kobe Bryant, in which a claim was made that the All-Star manhandles a 21 year old man while attending a church in the area.
As it turns out, Bryant went to the church with his wife Vanessa to attend a service, where he found that a man is taking their pictures with his mobile phone. Not pleased at this Kobe grabbed the man’s wrist and snatched the cell
phone from him. However, on checking Kobe found out that the man wasn’t taking his pictures, so he returned the cell phone and went out of the church.
Didn’t seem like much, but the person whose wrist was clutched by Kobe thought otherwise and filed a report. An eye witnessed has revealed that Kobe entered in the church at the same time duration mentioned by the victim.
Bryant’s attorney, Mark Campbell, dispensed a statement on Tuesday on the situation and completely rubbished the allegations.
Campbell said, “Mr. Bryant is aware of the baseless allegations asserted against him, and is prepared to defend against them fully.”
However, the authorities didn’t elucidate whether the victim actually made an attempt to take the picture of Kobe. Even if the victim tried there is no law against it, as state anti-paparazzi laws would not apply to this scenario.
So there is a high probability that Kobe’s big pocket will receive a good hit in case of a law suit.
The victim has told the authorities that he would be available for a police interview on August 24 and police spokeswoman Lt. Andra Brown said, “We will then determine if there is any reason to go forward with (the case).”
