The Los Angeles Lakers talisman believes that it is 'dumb' to dig too deep into the early season troubles which his side is going through …..
Los Angeles Lakers fans base is one of the most passionate in the entire NBA. They have had plenty to celebrate in the past decade or so, but such is their voracity for wins and championships that whenever their team derails from
the victorious path, the criticism that follows can touch the border of insanity.
Fittingly, they have been blessed with a star who doesn’t refrains from giving a piece of his mind with utmost frankness, and speaking about it, Kobe Bryant just gave the Lakers fans and other doubters a shut up call.
Guess what, the Black Mamba believes he can do so because he has five championship rings to boot;
"I've won so I can (tell people to shut up)," Bryant said. "For Mike it might be a little tough to say that so I'll say it for him: 'Everybody shut up. Let us work. At the end of the day, you'll be happy with the result as you
normally are.' "
When asked about the anguish which the two consecutive Lakers losses have caused, Bryant continued the rant;
"I don't understand," He said with a smile. "And I'm trying to bite my tongue and not calling them 'dumb,' which I kind of just did.”
The main reason of anxiety has been the use of 'Princeton Offense' by the second year coach Mike Brown. Although quite similar to the ‘Triangle Offense’ which the Lakers used under legendary coach Phil Jackson, it has its uniqueness
and at present, the team seems to be struggling in coming to grips with it.
The Lakers were expected to do wonders this season after the acquisition of Steve Nash and Dwight Howard in what was a summer to remember. The results however have not been there and Nash especially seems to be struggling under
the Princeton philosophy. The celebrated point guard is averaging just 4.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in the first two games, and the team chemistry is not visible so far.
Bryant however believes that it’s just a matter of time before the Lakers get used to it;
"The essence of the offense is everybody sharing the spotlight. Everybody being able to read and react and working as one. That takes time to do,"
The Mamba has delivered on whatever he had claimed in the past. For the Lakers sake, let’s just hope that he does the same this time around.
