Kobe Bryant looking to give advice to Dwight Howard about being competitive – NBA News
Kobe Bryant is regarded as one of the best basketball players to have ever played in the NBA, and will have his name go down in history as one of the greatest of all time. And in order to reach that level of competitiveness and
hunger to be able to achieve the things Bryant has achieved on the basketball court, one needs to be motivated on a regular basis and needs to keep finding motivation from his surroundings. Michael Jordan talked about his motivations during his Hall of Fame
acceptance speech, and Bryant also has his ways of staying hungry and remaining competitive.
Bryant recently said that he likes to make players uncomfortable during practice, barking and trash talking at them to bring out their best and challenge their authority. He believes it helps both himself and the other player push
to their maximum.
Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLA.com spoke to Bryant recently and Bryant compared his playing style to that of Magic Johnson, saying that Johnson had that same streak in him.
“Magic was like that. You saw Magic barking at guys. He was the point guard, the general, so you saw him yelling instructions a lot. And he’s extremely competitive. But he still played the game with a smile on his face,” said Bryant.
The conversation was shifted to Shaquille O’Neal when someone asked him if Shaq was like that and that shifted the conversation to the Shaq Vs Dwight Howard comparison.
“No. They’re different. Shaq was a goofball. But Shaq was a big a——. I was a little a——. It worked well. Dwight has a lot of that in him. He just needs to bring it out and make guys pay every single day,” replied Bryant.
Bryant will be looking to impart some of his experience and knowledge to the younger Howard as both players become teammates for the first time in their respective careers. Howard is hungry for success, but maybe needs just a little
push to go that step further, and playing alongside Kobe Bryant as well as Steve Nash might give him the inspiration he needs and help him evolve into a better player who is willing to go any length to achieve his goals.
