Kobe Bryant scores 34 as Los Angeles Lakers down Philadelphia 76ers 111-98: NBA Recap
Los Angeles Lakers won back to back two for the first time in four weeks when they cruised past Philadelphia 76ers 111-98 here at the Wells Fargo Center, on Sunday night.
After a long time Kobe Bryant had something to cheer about;
"It's guys playing with confidence and guys trusting each other, We played well, communicated well, kept attacking and good things happened. I know the questions have been coming because we hadn't been winning, but our time will
come." Kobe said as he finished off with 34 points 6 assists and made 8 of his 9 free throws, to carry the Lakers.
Metta World Peace had a double-double with 19 points and a career high 16 rebounds, going 3 of 4 from the three point land, while Dwight Howard had another day at the double-double office with 17 points and 11 rebounds and a surprising
100 percent shooting from the foul line.
Nick Young led the Sixers with 30 points, Evan Turner had 16 points, and Spencer Hawes came off the bench to add 16 points for the Sixers, who shot 49.4 percent from the floor.
Jason Richardson knocked down a three pointer early in the game to tie the score on 5, and it was close for the most of the passage with the scores getting tied quite a number of times. It was all equal on 21 later in the period
and a 5 nil spurt by the Lakers at the close had them up by 28-24.
The Lakers started pulling ahead in the second period. Darius Morris fired two from behind the arc to put them up 38-29. Young sank 3 three pointers in quick succession to cut the deficit down to 44-52 but Bryant and company kept
scoring baskets at the other end to maintain their lead. The Lakers were up by 10 at halftime.
A Howard layup pushed their advantage to 73-58 early in the third period, and Chris Duhon connected two from downtown minutes later, before Metta World Peace slipped in a layup to make it 81-66 with 2:56 left in the quarter. Lakers
knocked down 14 three pointers on the night and Bryant scored a deuce to close the period for the Lakers on 87-73.
Phillies kept the Lakers in check early in the fourth quarter. Hawes scored one from behind the arc to cut the gap down to 82-91 but the Lakers were unfazed and a Howard layup had them up 97-84 around the mid quarter mark. Los
Angeles were in cruise control mode after that and went on to win 111-98 eventually.
