Kobe Bryant trying to stay patient as the Los Angeles Lakers continue to slide – NBA Update
Kobe Bryant has been a champion player all throughout his life, and one thing which hurts him the most is losing. That is something which the Lakers have made a habit off in the recent past. The side has lost 5 of its last six
games and 8 of its last 11 and has dropped to the 12 spot in the Western Conference.
The worst part is that the Lakers are 1-10 in the games Kobe Bryant has scored 30 or more points. After their recent loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Bryant apparently snapped, but chose his words wisely. On Wednesday, the Black
Mamba sat down with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, and when asked about the most frustrating stretches of his career, Kobe said that he was trying to be patient;
"I think I'm doing a pretty good job sitting on my lily pad and meditating through this process," Bryant said. "I think I'm doing a pretty good job of just trying to stay as patient as I possibly can. I'm trying not to forget the
things that I've learned throughout my career of going through tough stretches. Just really focus on the game and focus on the mistakes we're making through the course of the game and how to correct those mistakes."
The Lakers have had plenty of problems so far this season, one in which they were expected to conquer all. Things never worked however. They lost all their pre-season games and then managed to win just 1 of their first 5 games,
prompting the sacking of head coach Mike Brown. If that was not distraction enough, there was a whole drama in the manner Mike D’Antoni was hired as the head coach, being preferred to the legendary Phil Jackson. And then the comparisons began.
Amidst all that, the Lakers lost track of what they are really used to do – to win. Sure they have a new team which needs time, but it is not the losses, but the manner in which the Lakers are losing that is frustrating.
The Lakers are one of the worst defensive teams in the season, especially in the fourth quarters, and as the season progresses their woes are becoming greater. Bryant has been one shining light in this entire situation, and he
says he is being patient at the moment. The question is, till when will he remains so.
