Kobe Bryant wants the NBA owners and players to reach consensus on the labour agreement
As the National Basketball Association Lockout continues spread its wings, many aging NBA players are getting more concerned to play basketball and want the labour dispute to get resolved as soon as possible.
Los Angeles Lakers future hall of famer Kobe Bryant is one of the senior players in the league who really wants NBA owners and players association to get back on the table in good faith to complete the labour agreement.
The NBA commissioner David Stern has warned the union to accept the latest proposal ahead of Wednesday before the 2011-2012 season is drastically affected. Keeping the warning in mind, the legendary shooting guard Kobe Bryant wants
owners and players association iron out the system when they are very close to getting a deal done.
"We need for the two sides to get together again before Wednesday, because we're too close to getting a deal done. We need to iron out the last system items and save this from spiralling into a nuclear winter." Bryant said.
The 33-year-old Bryant is in the final stages of his career and he clearly wants to play as much basketball as he can to secure a couple of more NBA championships. Earlier, it was reported that Kobe was in the favour of 50-50 split
of the Basketball Related income (BRI) which was offered by the owners in the last month. And the only reason he wanted union to accept the offer was to get back on the courts of NBA.
The regular season games for the month of November has already been cancelled and further delay in making a settlement to form a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)might result in a complete season wipe out.
According to the sources, David Stern has issued an ultimatum to the union to accept an offer which will give them a band of 49%-51% of the revenue depending on the league earning in the season. Stern is using a hard-line negotiation
tactic to get a deal done and restrain from cancelling any further games.
However the players are sceptical that they will receive 51 percent of the Basketball Related income and declared that they will not be intimidated with the ultimatum to sign a deal which is unacceptable for the union.
Despite of more than three months of negotiation and all the reports suggesting that the progress has started to build up, there is still no definite answer of when the lockout will be lifted to bring the action back on the court.
