Kobe Bryant’s top 10 performances and an insight into his regular season, 2010-11 (Part 1)
With the regular season 2010-11 closing on April 13th, the eight best teams from both the Conferences are now heading into the playoffs that are scheduled to start on Sunday, 17th April, 2011. The Los Angeles Lakers of the Western Conference
had a commendable season, flipping through victories and losses, the Lakers made it to the second seed in the Western Conference with extraordinary leadership shown by the phenomenal, Kobe Bryant.
The 32-year-old mercurial shooting guard has undoubtedly been the most dominating player of the National Basketball Association for over ten years, and with the passage of time, seems to only increase his potential. A charismatic personality that matches
his athleticism breaks down the opposition and they cannot help but agonize at the thought of facing him on the court. He is the Black Mamba, and without any doubts, one of the league’s top players. His exemplary on-court talents are compared to that of Michael
Jordan, who is considered the best basketball player of all times.
Like all other seasons that were part of his basketball tenure, this season is no different. Bryant did not miss a single game this season and jumped from 12th position to the sixth position, replacing Moses Malone in NBA’s all time scoring list.
He surpassed Malone, Elvin Hayes, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Oscar Roberts to rocket to sixth place by scoring 27,409 points in 1,329 games of his professional basketball career. Ex-teammate and now a Boston Celtics player, Shaquille O’Neal, is at fifth place in
the same list. The legends are the only two active players currently. It is already being predicted that Bryant, the 15-year veteran would end his career no less than third place overall.
Bryant averaged 25.3 points, .323 three-pointer percentage, .451 field goal attempts along with 5.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists during regular season 2010-11. The player had a total of 99 steals this season, giving him an average of 1.2 steals per game.
Season 2010-11 brought many surprises for the team. The Lakers being two times defending champions of NBA, were given the chance to meet the President of United States, Barack Obama. Not only that, but they also played along with the President who happened
to be a basketball aficionado.
Kobe was being Kobe throughout the season. The legendary player exhibited the mastery of his skills over the season and led his team throughout the 82 games they played this season. Under his commendable performance the Lakers flourished to 57 wins, punctuated
with moments when Kobe would be frustrated to see his team lose.
The Lakers lost 25 of 82 contests and flipped through a period of big winning streaks. They had a 10 game winning streak starting from October 21, 2010 that finished on November 9, 2010.
Lakers notched nine straight victories, making it their second longest winning streak of the season that started from March 12th and ended on April 1st.
