Kobe Bryant’s top 10 performances and an insight into his regular season, 2010-11 (Part 2)
Their third longest winning streak of the season consisted of eight games, starting on February 22nd and ended on March 8th against Miami Heat.
Let us now review Bryant’s top 10 games that helped him spark throughout the season. The performances are in descending order, that is to say, starting from the highest score and ending on lowest, followed by his season opening night score.
Season opener (bonus)
Opening the season with a splendid performance of 27 points, the player promised a season full of even bigger victories. Bryant triggered his defence up as the two-time NBA defending champions, clinched a 112-110 win over Houston Rockets in the very first
game of the season on October 26th.
Coach, Phil Jackson appreciated his performance and later said about the gifted player, "Kobe looks better to us. He didn't shoot the ball too well, but he ran like he was more fluid. It looks more like he starting to have a little bounce in his step. I
was pleased, even though, he didn't shoot the ball well."
Season high/ best 42
On March 23rd against the Phoenix Suns, in a game that lasted for three overtimes and the victory finally landing in Lakers hands, Bryant found an opportunity to seal his season best. The player posted a double-double with 42 points, grabbed 10
rebounds, and dished out nine assists, leaving him just one shy of a triple-double.
Speeding past the Indiana Pacers
November 28, 2010: He might have lost the opportunity to net a three-pointer when the team most needed it, but he was without any doubt commendable throughout the game. It was in the 92-95 loss against the Indiana Pacers that the player scored 41 points,
while recording a marvelous 14 of 33 shooting from the field. He clinched three 3-pointers in the loss, and scored 15 points in the third quarter of the same game. The Pacers feared facing the Lakers at their home, thinking it was a huge victory for them.
Pacers centre, Roy Hibbert, expressed his admiration of Bryant when he said, "Oh, my heart sank. He's a closer. He's the Black Mamba."
Standing tall against the defensive C’s
January 30th, 2011: Kobe was on fire against their Eastern Conference rivals, the Boston Celtics. The guard contributed 41 points on a 16 of 29 shooting from the field. He also notched 3 of 5 three-pointers in 38 minutes of action. The Lakers
lost, 96-109 but his performance was mesmerizing.
De-rooting the Warriors
The Philadelphia born player chipped in 39 points, while marking a commendable 115-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors on January 12. In just 36 minutes of action, he had assembled not only 39 points but along came six rebounds, four assists, and
three steals. Perfection is in his veins, and that prompted the Black Mamba to go a perfect 11 for 11 from the free throw line. His 11 free throws were even more than the opposition’s collective nine free throws that they shot in the loss.
Bryant did most of the damage to the Warriors squad and for that he received a pat on back from everyone.
