Kobe Bryant’s underrated achievements in his NBA career: NBA Feature (Part-2)
600 points in three successive post-seasons
Los Angeles Lakers legendary basketball player Kobe Bryant, who is nicknamed as Black Mamba for his lethal game-play, is the only player in the National Basketball Association history to score at least 600 points in three straight
post-seasons.
This brilliant record came in the days when Kobe Bryant reached in his thirty’s and everybody thought that Bryant domination will diminish due to his aging body. However, at that time, Bryant registered a record which no player
in NBA has achieved so far.
In 2008, 2009 and 2010 play-offs, Kobe Bryant racked up 633, 695 and 671 points respectively, making a new record in NBA. In the process, the 33-year-old Bryant led Los Angeles Lakers towards two NBA title in 2009 and 2010.
Reaching 20,000 points before 30
Another underrated achievement of Kobe Bryant is the fact that he is among the only three players in the NBA history to rack up 20,000 points before the age of 30. The other two player are the All-time basketball legends Michael
Jordan and Wilt Chamberlin.
Kobe achieved this feat when he was 29 years and 122 days old which enabled him to surpass the scoring champion Wilt Chamberlain. Bryant has now scored more than 25000 points in his career as his next goal is to become the sixth
player in the league to reach a landmark of 30,000 points.
Youngest player to be inducted in the NBA All-Defensive Team
After the 1999-2000 season, Kobe Bryant was inducted in the NBA All-Defensive team as he earned the recognition of a good defensive player early in his career. It was just the fourth season of Los Angeles Lakers superstar and he
became the youngest player ever to receive the honour.
In 1999-200 season, Bryant racked up 22.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists 1.6 steals and 0.9 blocks per game in almost 38 minutes of playing time.
Most number of free throws in four-game post-season series
During Los Angeles Lakers three-peat era, the dynamic shooting guard Kobe Bryant registered another record which is only held by him. In 2001 play-offs, when Lakers swept Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference semi-finals,
Bryant made a record of landing 51 free throws in a four-game series. Overall, Kobe shot more than 82 percent from the charity strip in the play-offs as he had mastered his free throw skills by that time.
That was also one of the best years of Kobe Bryant in which he scored a career-high 7.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists on the big platform.
Most 3-pointers in one game
During 2002-2003 season, Kobe Bryant made another NBA record by landing 12 blistering blows from beyond the arc which included nine successive 3-pointers. The record came in a game against Seattle Supersonics, which is now known
as Oklahoma City Thunder. Bryant finished the game with 45 points and spearhead Los Angeles Lakers towards an electrifying 119-98 win.
The 2002-2003 season was also one of the best scoring years for Kobe in which he averaged 30.0 point per game in the regular season and 32.1 points per game in the play-offs.
