Koch and Pace tied for the sixth place
For both Carin Koch and Lee-Anne Pace, the ISPS Handa Ladies British Masters has brought good news. After the first round, both these players are tied for the sixth place.
When the round ended yesterday, both these players had scored 68 points. They were trailing the lead by two strokes, a gap that could be bridged in the coming rounds.
The Swedish player Carin Koch started the event in an excellent manner. She scored a birdie on the very first hole. The next four holes were unremarkable and she really jarred the fans on the sixth hole. A bogey on this hole neutralized the birdie at the
beginning.
She recovered immediately and scored a birdie on the seventh hole. On the ninth hole, she repeated the birdie, bringing up her total score to 34 points. Koch started the back nine in the best possible manner.
She shot an eagle on this hole and things started to look bright for the Swedish player. A birdie on the 11th hole further elated the fans. However, she almost immediately shot a bogey on the 13th hole.
This was repeated on the 16th hole where another bogey followed. A birdie on the 17th hole managed to remedy the condition somewhat, but her score did not recover from the two bogeys.
After the round, Koch said, “I started off really well, I started off eagle, birdie, and then had some ups and downs after that and managed to make a few good putts to stay in the game and handled the wind okay. I’m happy with it”.
The South African star, Lee-Anne Pace began in a mundane manner. She scored a birdie on the second hole. This was the best news from the front nine.
On the back nine, she hit a birdie on the 11th hole. She scored another birdie on the 14th hole. She finished the round with another birdie on the final hole.
Talking about her performance, Pace said, “I played really solid; hit 14 greens and hit them pretty close on some shots. I made no bogeys and four birdies”.
Pace and Koch have displayed a great from the start of the tournament. This is good news for Pace who has lately played a rather dull game in the past events.
