Kochi Tuskers Kerala captain Mahela Jayawardene not taking Delhi Daredevils lightly
The Kochi Tuskers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 (KTK) captain, Mahela Jayawardene, has claimed that he was not taking his opposition, Delhi Daredevils (DD) lightly, despite their poor show in the Indian Premier League (IPL) until now. Both teams will go head to head in the 36th
match of the cash rich tournament on Saturday, April 30th, 2011, at the Nehru Stadium, Kochi in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Jayawardene stated, “When they (DD) are down they can be dangerous opponents, so have to go up against them and handle the situation well and try and keep them well, you know where we could control them from. They have got some match winners and we have
to be very careful about them”
Commenting on his team’s performance, the Sri Lankan said, “Yes the last two outings were disappointing but you know we have got a good team; we just need to concentrate on the processes and try and execute the proper game plan.”
The start to the tournament was not an ideal one for Kochi, as they lost the first couple of games. The team bounced back strongly though, winning the next three games in a row. It seemed as if Jayawardene and his men were headed towards the right direction,
but their confidence was yet again jolted by two back to back losses.
The strength of KTK has been their opening pair of Brendon McCullum and the captain himself. They have scored some quick runs at the top of the order, giving good starts to the team. However, the middle-order has been a little bit over dependant on the two
star batsmen.
Jayawardene hinted at making some changes for today’s match. He said that the team has been changing combinations, depending on the opponents and the conditions and same will be the case against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780.
On the other hand, things haven’t gone well for the DD team, as they have only managed to win two games out of the seven played. Their problem is somewhat similar to their opposition, as DD also rely mainly on their opening pair of David Warner and Virender
Sehwag.
Both teams are pretty much even on paper, but a win is must for them, as the losing side might not be able to bounce back from here onwards.
