Kochi Tuskers Kerala v Delhi Daredevils- Match Preview: Both teams looking to find the winning ways
Kochi Tuskers Kerala will take on Delhi Daredevils in their home fixture of the Indian Premier League season four. It is a crucial game for both the teams considering the fact that they have not done that well in the tournament so far and both the teams
would love to win this encounter to rediscover the winning ways.
Mahela Jayawardene and his men are currently at number eight on the points table with only six points after seven matches, whereas Delhi is reeling at the bottom of the table with just two wins after six matches.
Kochi is a star studded lineup with some match winners like Jayawardene, Brendon McCullum, Brad Hodge, VVS Laxman, Muttiah Muralitharan and Ravindra Jadeaja but they should be disappointed with their performance in the tournament so far as they lost more
matches than they won.
The problem area for Kochi has been their batting department as no one apart from Brendon McCullum and Ravindra Jadeja has notable average in the current edition of the league so far. The likes of Jayawardene, Hodge and Parthiv Patel would have to raise
their game with the bat if Kochi is to bounce back from this position.
Kochi’s morale would be extremely low after their disastrous loss against the Deccan Chargers on Wednesday when their batsmen failed to cope with the pace and bounce of Ishant Sharma and Dale Steyn. However, Jayawardene and company would like to forget that
horror dream as soon as possible because of the short time frame between the matches.
The performance of their bowlers has not been much different and none of their bowlers have been outstanding in the league till date. Although it was expected that RP Singh, Muttiah Muralitharan and Ravindra Jadeja will form a formidable bowling unit.
On the other side of the coin, Delhi would be extremely disappointed with their showings in the current edition of IPL. They have been doing pretty well in the previous seasons of the league but they seem to have lost momentum after losing some key players
like Gautam Gambhir, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Daniel Vettori and AB de Villiers.
David Warner has been the pick of the Delhi batsmen in the current season and has found some support from Venugopal Rao and Virender Sehwag. Aussie all-rounder James Hopes showed good form in the previous match against the Chargers as he made some crucial
runs.
Morne Morkel has been impressive in the tournament and Sehwag would be hoping that Irfan Pathan can support him better with the new ball, which has not been the case in the tournament so far.
Both the teams are evenly matched and would love to break the shackles in this encounter. Still there is plenty of cricket to be played in the current season and these two teams have a chance to fight back in the points table, however, another loss or two
could leave these two teams a bit too much to do.
There is no doubt that Kochi and Delhi are talented teams and they have some extra-ordinary players in their ranks but the need of the hour for both the teams is to translate that talent in the field.
Let’s hope that we witness a crunch game as both teams are looking to get rid of their respective losing streaks.
